چکیده

When applied to skin, particulate matter has been shown accumulate in hair follicles. In addition follicles, the skin topography also incorporates trench-like furrows where particles potentially can accumulate; however, have not as thoroughly investigated a drug delivery perspective. Depending on body site, combined follicle orifices cover up 10% of surface, while easily 20%, reaching depths exceeding 25 µm. Hence, porous appropriate size and porosity could serve carriers for drugs be released follicles prior local or systemic absorption. this paper, we combine multiphoton microscopy, scanning electron Franz cell diffusion technology investigate ex-vivo accumulation mesoporous silica (average 400–600 nm, 2, 7 µm, respectively), potential which vehicles topical broad-spectrum antibiotic metronidazole. We detected smaller (400–600 nm) at about after rinsing, larger (7 µm) located more superficially skin. This implies that appropriately sized may valuable excipients optimizing bioavailability formulations. work highlights delivery.

Topical administration of adrenergic receptor pharmaceutics and nerve growth factor

Topical application of nerve growth factor (NGF) and adrenergic receptor pharmaceutics are currently in use for corneal ulcers and glaucoma. A recent interest in the neuroprotective abilities of NGF has led to a renewed interest in NGF as a therapeutic for retinal and choroidal diseases. NGF can promote cell proliferation through actions of the TrkA receptor or promote apoptosis through recepto...

Mesoporous metallic rhodium nanoparticles

Mesoporous noble metals are an emerging class of cutting-edge nanostructured catalysts due to their abundant exposed active sites and highly accessible surfaces. Although various noble metal (e.g. Pt, Pd and Au) structures have been synthesized by hard- and soft-templating methods, mesoporous rhodium (Rh) nanoparticles have never been generated via chemical reduction, in part due to the relativ...

Magnetic-mesoporous Janus nanoparticles.

Novel multifunctional magnetic-mesoporous Janus particles with controlled aspect ratio were developed by a simple one-step synthesis approach. Due to their superior magnetic properties and well-defined pore structures, these particles will be important in drug delivery, molecule targeting, cellular imaging, and as building blocks for the assembly of complex nanostructures.
